A Kind Life Yoga is now on the Gold Coast!
After three and a half years in Bendigo, I have now relocated to the Gold Coast. Just a few more tweaks and boxes to unpack and A Kind Life Yoga will be officially open for business in the Sunshine State. Watch this space for updates - you can subscribe to be the first to hear about new happenings here.
As it likely was for many of you, the past few years have been a great, if at times tumultuous, learning experience. After experiencing what Brene Brown calls a breakdown/spiritual awakening, I left my well paid and stable job as a journalist and embarked on a voyage of self repair and discovery, fraught with self doubt, fear of the unknown and grief. Leaving a job I thought defined me left me thinking "who the f*** am I?" Slowly I discovered none of us are defined by our vocations, we are defined by our values. Some of mine are kindness, love, humour, fun, trust, and meaningful work.
And it was through the value of not just wanting but needing meaningful work in my life that I was drawn to teaching yoga. I'd always watched on enviously as the yogis attended the teacher training programs at my local studio, but I could never afford to take part and as such it felt like a luxury out of my grasp, Then came the pandemic and online YTTs became much more accepted by organisations like Yoga Alliance and a much more affordable choice.
My breakdown/spiritual awakening meant I had a bit more time on my hands to dedicate to finishing the YTT course I had started several months earlier and as my own personal yoga and meditation practice grew A Kind Life Yoga was born.
I'm so grateful for the six months I spent teaching yoga in Bendigo. I learned so much. As sad as it was to leave my regular students, I knew my time in Bendigo - and Victoria - had come to an end and a new chapter was on the horizon. I felt called to the endless summer, the ocean and mountain landscapes and beautiful spiritual community of the Gold Coast which I now call home. It's also been somewhat of a family reunion on my husband's side.
I look forward to launching some slow flow and meditation classes with my soul sister Claire Phillips, founder of The Awakening Tribe (location TBC), as well as smaller, more intimate classes at my home studio, and who knows I'd like to think there's a bigger studio space in my future as well!
Stay tuned and subscribe for updates on upcoming classes here on the Gold Coast and a refresh of online offerings. My next post will feature a free 15 minute guided slow flow video, you don't want to miss that!
Namaste beautiful ones.
